DETROIT, MICH. — Dewey
Wilson, 51, recently was found
innocent of a charge of armed
robbery after he had served 18
years of a life sentence after
conviction on that charge. He
was convicted in November, 1932.
The trial at which he was acquitted
was won on grounds
that his conviction had come because
of perjured testimony.
His accuser, Walter Norwood,
58, charged that Wilson robbed
him of $500 in a holdup on Belle
Island in May, 1931.
At the re-trial, Wilson testified
that he later met Norwood
in 1945 in southern Michigan
prison where the latter was
serving a term on a charge of
violating gambling laws.
Wilson testified that Norwood
told him that police had instructed
Norwood to testify as
he did at the original trial.
