Miss Caroline Delaney was home from Boston for the holidays with her parents.

Miss June Squires has returned to UVM in Burlington after spending the holidays here.

Mr. and Mrs. George Hess and two boys of Schenectady spent the weekend with Mrs. Silas Towne and Mrs. Julia Hess.

Earl LaBatt of Schenectady spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles LaBatt.

James King of the USN is spending a 10-day leave with his wife and son at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth King.

Frank Griswold of Schenectady spent the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Harvey Griswold.

Rev. Raymond G. Putnam was out of town for a few days last week because of the death of his brother, Preston N. Putnam of Niagara Falls, N. Y.. Burial was in Danvers, Mass. Mr. Putnam, Who was head engineer of the underground construction for the Ontario Power Co., died suddenly the day before Christmas. His wife and two children survive, besides two brothers and a sister.

Everett Elliott and famaly have returned from a short holiday trip to Florida.

Karl Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil C. Davis of Manchester Depot and Dalton Dulac, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Dulac of Manchester Center, left last week for induction into the U. S. Army. They expect to be stationed at Fort Dix, N. J. Dulac graduated last June from Dartmouth College and Davis has been attending the University of Vermont.

Miss Annabelle Ellison, who spent the two weeks holiday vacation at her home in Rutland, and Miss Charlotte Sumner, who spent the recess with her parents in Ludlow, have returned to their teaching duties in the elementary school.

Mr. and Mrs. Anton G. Hardy sailed from New York last Wednesday for Norway, where they will attend the wedding of their son, Anton Hardy Jr. to Miss Ann Marie Solchsler on Jan. 14.

RiPLEY, N.Y. —Seven year old Mary Swan dropped her four younger brothers and sisters out a second story window and then jumped to safety herself as fire, started by a wood burning stove, leveled their farm home yesterday. None of the childred, including a 6-month-old infant, was burned or injured seriously in the 15-foot plunge to the muddy ground. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Swan, were on a trip to Union City, Pa.

The following students have returned to their respective colleges: Leon Peets to Ithaca; Miss Phyllis Decker to Burlington and Miss Shirley Vaughn to Castleton.

Mr. and Mrs. James Edgerton have moved to Montpelier where Mr. Edgerton has employment with the Department of Agriculture.

Mrs. Florence Smith has resumed her teaching duties at Sandgate after a two weeks vacation.

Mr. and Mrs. George Wright and family spent Sunday with Mrs. Marjorie Wright in Shushan, N. Y.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hess spent New Year's Day with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Montgomery and family in South Shaftsbury.
