Mr. Edwin Chamberlain and wife were in Austin yesterday.

Geo. L. Leigh, of the Stonleigh ranch, is in the city for a few days and is a guest at the Southern.

Geo. Suchart, a well known traveling man is registered at the Southern from Seguin.

C. M. O'Dell and wife of White Castle, La., have apartments at the Southern.

H. A. Hunsaker and wife returned this morning from the north, where they have acompanied the remains of Mrs A. 0. Ross, mother of Mrs. Hunsaker, who was burned to death in a recent fire on Laurel Heights, when their residence was destroyed.

Dallas, Texas, February 28. Robert E. Cox was found dead this morning at 6 o'clock in the hall of a flat located on the second floor of a building corner of Griffin and Camp streets, with a 45-calIber bullet hole through his brain. Inquest procedings are not yet terminated. Cox was a driver for the Wells Fargo Express.

The remains of the late Miss Lillian Gay Bateman were laid to rest yesterday morning. Services were conducted by Dean Richardson, of St. Mary's Episcopal church.

Mrs. Josephine Peche Drake, aged 72, died at the Bexar apartments yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The remains were shipped to Versailles, Ky. by Undertaker Shelly, and were accompanied by Mrs. L. K. Thomas, daughter of deceased.
