An armed robbery charge was placed
against James Weatherman, 25,
Friday in connection with the
Dec. 16 shooting of the Spray,
N. C., police chief.
Weatherman previously was
charged with malicious wounding,
carrying a concealed weapon and
two counts of breaking in. Officers
said Weatherman forced Chief
Henry Wiseman Terry to accompany him
to Virginia after the
policeman surprised him at a
break-in at Spray.
Authorities said Terry was robbed
of $40 and shot six times
after arriving in Henry County.
The police chief was discharged
from a Winston-Salem, N. C.,
hospital Dec. 23.
