Miss Poole of Brookings is the guest of her brother Guy Poole for a few days. B. F. Trumbower returned Monday morning from Blunt where he spent Sunday. A. E. Clark left for El Paso, Texas, where he will spend the winter with a brother. Mrs. Paul Grattan went to Redfield Thursday morning to spend the day with friends. Mr. J. C. Klemme leaves for Milbank Monday night to adjust a lot of fire insurance losses. L. K. Smith returned from Philip and Midland Wednesday morning where he held a series of services. Dr. T. J. Wood returned from Broadland Monday morning where he was called on professional business. Harry Beach of the W. A. Beach Printing Co., of Sioux Falls, was transacting business in Huron Wednesday. Boone Jefferson, successor to Fox & Jefferson in the livery business has not sold his business as reported but will continue it himself. H. J. McGarvey left for southern Mininesota Wednesday morning to make his last trip before the holidays in the interest of the Foot, Schulze Company. Mrs. Goodykoontz who has been here the past three weeks looking after her interests departed for her home at Mason City Saturday. Dr. Elftman of Goldfield, Nev., and Mr. Facer, of Minneapolis, who were here to meet the stockholders of the Goldfield Mining Co., returned to their respective homes Saturday morning. Mrs. Fred Eager of Bonilla was in the city Saturday. J. S. Burke was a passenger to Oakes Wednesday morning. E. C. Glazier went to Miller Wednesday morning to tune a number of pianos. Mrs. W. W. Marston went to Aberdeen to spend the day with friends Wednesday. O. W. Coursey of Mitchell was a pleasant caller at the Huionite office Saturday. Mrs. Harry Sweeten and Miss Gliddin of Hitchcock, were shopping in the city Wednesday. Dr. H. P. Carson went to Colton Friday evening where he will preach for the Presbyterians Sunday. H. G. Cooley now of Aberdeen and engaged in the real estate business is visiting his many Huron friends. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Smith left for Miller Wednesday morning to take part in the entertainment given there tonight by Mine Langendor. Mr. Spooner, of Watertown and Horace Key, Of this place, went to Blunt Wednesday morning to look after the interests of the Acme. Harvester Co. Mr. Thomas Shepard left Wednesday morning for Houston, Texas where he will remain for the winter in the hopes that the climate will benefit his health. Mrs. T. D. Fraser will arrive from Minneapolis Sunday morning for a short visit with her husband who is here on business. They will be guests at the Corley home. The Civic Federation meets at 4:30 Sabbath afternoon in the Methodist Episcopal church. President F. B. Gault of Vermillion and Rev. G. I. Notson will both be present. President Gault of the State University will arrive in Huron this evening. President Gault will deliver the address at the dedication of the Y. M. C. A. room. Mrs. J. B. Cogan and Mrs. Geo. Kerr entertained a number of their friends Tuesday evening at the home of the former. Games were played until a late hour when the guest were invited to the dining room where a bounteous repast was served. The first criminal case to be tried at this term of the circuit court Was that of Wm. Rash, who is charged with a statutory crime. The forenoon was spent in securing a jury and the first witness was on the stand when the court adjourned for dinner. Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Dougherty, Miss Julia Vanderstein delighted the members of the Fortnightly Club by singing several of Morre's Irish melodies—that universal favorite "Tis the Last Rose of Summer" lost none of its charm by Miss VanderSteins rendition. J. D. McNair came in from the west Friday morning. Superintendent Moulton went to Tracy Saturday morning. Judge Burtt was a passenger to Wolsey Wednesday morning. F. N. Stewart went to Pierre Friday morning on business. C. A. Heeler was a south bound passenger Friday morning. L. Lapier went to Cavour to look after business Friday morning. George Wright was a passenger to Sioux Falls Friday morning. Attorney A. K. Gardner returned from a professional trip to Belle Fourche Friday morning. S. L. Foote, Berney Farrell and F. E. Donnegan returned Friday morning from Pierre in private car No. 49. Chas. Carlson and family left Huron Friday morning for Puyallup, Wash., where they will make their future home. Mr. N. k. Jones, Mrs. L. H. Jones and Laura Jones departed for Aberdeen Friday morning where they will spend the day. Mrs. J. C. Dew of Aberdeen and children arrived Wednesday and will remain until after Christinas with Mrs. J. L. Foxton. Governor elect Vessey has leased the residence of the late H. G. Fuller and has removed his family to Pierre where they will reside during his gubernatorial career. F. N. Stewart returned from a trip to Pierre Friday night. Col. Dick Woods came up from Sioux Falls Thursday morning. Miss Ella Schallon of Washington, was a Huron visitor Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Warren of Iroquois were in the city shopping Thursday. Attorney Butt of Redfield was attending to professional business here today. Mrs. Hilkemeyer of Hitchcock is the guest of Mrs. Fred Giard for a few days. Mr.and Mrs. T. J. Harvey were passengers to Redfield Thursday morning. Mr. and Mrs. John Mortimer of Hitchcock were in the city shopping Tuesday. H. E. Barnes, editor of the Beadle County Herald, was in the city Tuesday. Mr. F. G. Forsburg went to Desmet Friday morning to visit his parents for a few days. Mrs. Ed. Hittle went to Broadland Tuesday morning to visit her sister for a few days. W. N. Farmer returned Thursday morning from a few days visit with friends at Elkton. Born to Mr. and Mrs. William Suits Tuesday morning a baby girl. Dr. Van Dalsem was the attending physician. Mr. A. B. Barnes came down from Wessington Tuesday morning to attend the meeting of the county commissioners. Miss Suthers, trimmer for Mrs. Myers, for the past few months, returned to her home Of Maquoketa, Iowa Tuesday morning. Mrs. L. B. Smith, mother of the ReV. L. K. Smith arrived in Huron Wednesday evening and will remain with her son during the winter. Ezra Issenhuth, deputy state treasurer, visited his parents, Mr.and Mrs. George Issenhuth over Sunday, returning to his duties at the capital city Monday. Miss Burruss who has been visiting her cousin, Mrs. W. S. Demaree for the past three weeks, departed for her home at Carelton, Il., Friday morning. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Williams and Mr. Isaac Jones left for Tracy Friday morning to attend the funeral services of the late Mrs. Fred Frary. F. N.
