One of the loveliest affairs of the winter season was the New Year's Eve party given by Miss Cecilia Salley at her home in Salley. Decorations, featured greetings to the new year and farewells to the old and included festoons of greenery, bells, "Father Time" and beautiful floral arrangements. Miss Salley was assisted in receiving and entertaining by her sister, Miss Barbara Jean Salley, and Miss Gaynelle Williamson. Punch, sandwiches, individual cakes, candy and nuts were served throughout the evening. An assortment of noise makers and favors for remembrances were on hand to add to the fun. Games and dancing was enjoyed until 1960 had officially arrived. Miss Salley, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Salley of Salley is a freshman at Carolina and one of Salleys loveliest and most popular young ladies. Her college room mate, Miss Bonnie McKinney of Warrenville, was a special guest Those attending came from Salley Wagencr, North, Springfield, Norway, Denmark, Columbia, Aiken and Union.
