Kansas City April 9 — Mrs. Prudence Smith, Mrs. Jane McNutt and her daughter were arraigned in Judge Mannings court in Kansas City, Kan. on the charge of destroying property in an Armourdale joint. The city attorney dismissed the case.

Indianola, Miss. April 9. James Bailey was killed by his wife Luella Bailey. He interfered in a row between his son by a former marriage and Mrs. Baileys brother and the woman fired at him with a shotgun, killing him instantly. She is in jail.

Mrs. Isabel Thompson was fatally wounded by a foot pad at Kansas City.

Miss Marie Satterfield of Allentown, Pa. to wed Franz Joseph, an Austrian count.

Miss. Randall E. Schuck has invited the Nineteenth Century club to luncheon on Thursday.

Mr. John L. Sweet returned to Chicago on Monday, after spending the Easter holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson on West Washington street.

Mrs Louise Rife and daughter Gladys, have returned from a visit at Adrian, Mich.

A. E. Meyers, of Norwalk, spent Sunday in the city.

Jay Hargraves spent Sunday in Sandusky.

Mr. A. C. Mess was registered at the American House, Cleveland, yesterday.

Mr and Mrs. Claude Bowles and children, of Sandusky, spent Sunday in Fremont.

Miss Fay Christy was the guest of relatives and friends at Sandusky, for a few days, returning this morning.

Miss Cora Moos, who has been the guest of Miss Mattie Keller, of Freemont, has returned home.

Mrs. Mabelle DeWitt Lehrer has returned from the south, where she has been sojourning this winter for the benefit of her health.

Fred W. Bauer went to Kelley's Island Monday afternoon to play with an orchestia there in the evening at an entertainment given by the Ladies of the Maceabees.

Misses Ackley, Bauer and Ritter go to Huron this evening to furnish music for a private party.

Mr. Joe Mead, who has been confined to his home for three months with typhoid pneumonia, was able to leave yesterday morning for his form er home in Blissfield, Mich, where he will visit for a few weeks.

Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Warren returned on Monday from Bermuda.

A very pleasant surprise was given to Mr. Harold Foster Monday evening in honor of his nineteenth birthday by the young people's club of Calvary church, at the residence of Mrs. James Sanderson. Games were indulged in until a late hour, after which a sumptuous supper was served. The guests departed, wishing him many happy returns of the day.

E. M. Mancourt, of Columbus, is registered at the West House. Mr. Mancourt formerly resided in Sandusky.

President John Whitworth, of the Chamber of Commerce, has left the city for a trip to points in the southwest. He will be absent for a week or more, transacting business.

Mrs. Mayme Grummel, arrived home Saturday afternoon from a week's visit with relatives in Sandusky.

Death of Mrs. John Schmidt. Mrs. Josephine Benner Schmidt died at her home, 625 Harrison street, Monday afternoon, aged 53 years. Mrs. Schmidt was the wife of John Schmidt who was an engineer in the employ of the Big Four for more than 30 years, but now employed in the shops. Mrs. Schmidt has lived in this city for thirty-six years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran church and a de- voted worker in the church. Besides her husband she leaves four daughters and three sons.
