Mrs. Lola Beigler and daughter, Judith, of Horsham, Pa., have returned after visiting Mrs. Beigler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Billing.

Second Lieut. William F. Sullivan, located in the South Pacific, has been promoted to first lieuenant, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willam F. Sullivan.

Edward Hinchey and sons Donald and Francis, of Pruyn's Hill, have returned from New York City, where they attended the Army-Notre Danie football game at Yankee Stadium.

Aviation Cadet and Mrs. Bernard Daley have returned to Northfield, Vt, after visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ben Daley and Mr. and Mrs. Fred DeCasperis. Cadet Daley is studying at Norwich University.

Robert F. MacDonald, seaman second class, Navy, son of Mrs. D. W. MacDonald, has been granted a leave following the completion of his basic training at the naval training station at Sampson.

Camp Ellis, ILL. Pvt. Morris Nichols, 19-year-old Cincinnati, OH, Negro, confessed yesterday that he criminally attacked Mrs. George Quigley at her farm home, where another Negro soldier later was shot to death by a farmer. Nichols told military authorities he attacked Mrs. Quigley, wife of a county official, last Thursday. He said he forced her husband at the point of a gun to face the wall during the attack. The Negro shot to death was Pvt. Hollie Willis, of Chicago, who was caught by four farmers early Sunday while making allegedly insulting telephone calls to neighboring women.

Mrs. G. Ashton Oldham entertained at her home in Albany yesterday at a luncheon in honor of the wives of the diocesan clergymen.

Miss Florence A. Risley, head of Munger Hall. Wellesley College, is the guest of Miss Anne Wellington, headmistress of Emma Willard School.

Mr. and Mrs. John H. Sherman and daughter, Mary Virginia, have returned to their home in Hinsdale, ILL., after being the houseguests for a week of Mr. Sherman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry P. Sherman of Hawthorne Avenue.

Frank J. Ross, 109 Ida Street, is recovering from an operation performed last week at Leonard Hospital.

Mrs. Harold Styles Trudeau and son Donald of Otsego Avenue have arrived in Portland, Ore., where they have joined Pvt. Harold Trudeau.

Mrs. Ray L. Huntley of 657 First Avenue has returned home from Dixfleld, Me., where she had been visiting her sister, Mrs. John Keith Trubee and family for the past few weeks.

Earl W. Willard, fireman first class, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Willard, 72 Thirteenth Street, has been chosen to study at Northwestern University under the V-12 plan. He is a graduate of Catholic Central High School and was aboard an aircraft carrier.

Lieut. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Daniels arrived from Stockton Field, Cal., yesterday, and are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Daniels of Cropseyville. Lieutenant Daniels recently was graduated from the Air Force Advanced Flying School at Stockton Field, and after his leave will report to another advanced training school in New Mexico. His wife is the former Adelaide Wilson.

Samuel Rowley, seaman second class, is visiting his mother, Mrs Mary Powell of Loudon Road, for a few days 0f leave from Sampson.

Pvt Earl Feiden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Feiden of Shaker Road, is enjoying a 15-day furlough here. Private Feiden is located at Wright Field, Dayton, OH., and is with the Air Corps.

Lieut. Warren C. DeLolla has arrived safely in the Pacific war area according to word received via cablegram by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Salvadore DeLolla of the Troy Road.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martin entertained for their son, Donald Martin, who has been on a furlough from his duties at Newport, R. I. A family reunion was enjoyed with 16 guests present from Troy, Albany and Cohoes. Among the guests were Mrs. Anna Randall, grandmother of the honor guest. A program of music and entertainment followed the dinner. Donald is with the fire control division of the Navy. He returned to his base Monday.

John Jenuskevice is home on leave from Norfolk, Va.

Staff Sergt. Anthony Slavis, Camp McCall, N. C. was home over the weekend.

Capt. Stanley B. Ford returns today to Camp Campbell, Ky., after a five-day leave at his home here.

Ralph E. Auernig, Carl A. Niles, and Francia L. Dooley have been granted leaves following completion of their basic training at the U. S. Naval Training Station at Sampson.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Canary and son, Thomas, of Stillwater, were recent guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L. Bacon.

Mrs. Nettie Keyes was a recent guest of her sister, Mrs. Mabel Brown, at Cossayuna.

Miss Esther G. Arnott has returned to Albany after spending some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James B. Arnott.

Mr. and Mrs. Jay Green have received word that their son. Charles F. Green, of the Navy has been promoted to radio man, first class.

The Happy-go-Lucky 4-H Club will hold a benefit dance at the Town Hall on Friday. Lydon Wallace's orchestra will furnish the music.

Mrs. Clarence Burch and Miss Lois Townsend of Hoosick Falls and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Townsend of this village were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Townsend recently in celebration of Mrs. Townsend's birthday.

Daniel Viall has been transferred from Sampson to the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

George Ackart of Troy spent a few days with his sister, Mrs. Estella Davis.

Mrs. Albert Viall recently visited her mother, Mrs. George Speanburgh, at Valley Falls.

Wayne Sheldon of Verbeck Avenue recently spent a few days with Mr and Mrs. Fred R. Ackart.
