W. A. Keddie, arrived yesterday from the eastern part of the state and spent the day in this city.

Wilbur E. Blair, returned last evening from a short business visit to Sacramento.

Frank L. Peterson, who spent the past two weeks at Lovelock, return to Reno yesterday.

E. J. Schneider, of Yerington, came up from the south last evening and is a guest at the Riverside.

Sam Platt, motored over from Carson, yesterday, having been called here on legal business.

Dr. C. W. Whitesides, was an arrival from Sodaville, last evening. He is at the Golden.

J. T. Taylor, of Mina, was among the arrivals from the youth last evening.

C. B. Buckham, of Bodie, Cal., is in Reno, arriving from his home last evening. He is at the Golden.

D. E. Hardy, L. Hardy, and N. C. Hardy, of Fallon, are Reno, visitors, arriving from the reclamation district last night.

C. E. Kent, Charles P. Cirac, and Clarence Dustin, of Stillwater, are in Reno, registering yesterday at the McCormack.

William Woodburn, Jr., United States district attorney came over from his Carson headquarters yesterday, having been summoned here to attend to official business.

Mrs. A. F. Ackerman, arrived last evening from Tonopah, called by the illness of her sister, Mrs. A. W. Holmes.

L. J. Har, the postmaster at Moapa, Lincoln county, died suddenly last Thursday.

Dennis Maloney, has been arrested at Kiko on a charge of selling whisky to Indians.

Mounted on horses under the trees in front of the Ous Bartman home on West Third street, Miss Roll, of Humboldt county, and Orvis Nelson, of Reno, were united in marriage yesterday afternoon.

Miss Sarah Nelson, and Roy Nelson, who acted as bridesmaid and best man were also mounted. The newlyweds will reside on the Rell ranch.

George Cunningham, one of those who have grown up with Reno, celebraded his 71st birthday Wednesday.

John W. Phillips, and Alice Minor, both of this city, were granted a license to wed yesterday. Their ages, as sworn to, are 40 and 38 years.

W. E. Marsh, the Southern Pacific engineer, who died in the Southern Pacific hospital in this city early today, had been in the latter Institution nearly a month. An operation for appedicitis was preformed on Sept. 4th, and another was necessary on Sept. 20th, for an abcess of the liver.

Miss Hezel Branton, daughter of Deputy Sheriff Branton, who has been critically ill is reported out of danger.

Judge Orr, has granted a decree of divorce to Eneas Casey from Bridget Theresa Casey.

Hal Souter, 19 years old, of Shelby, Mich., lost his life tonight in Little Traverse bay, after saving the lives of his sweetheart, Miss Teresa Miller, and his chum, Arthur Cook. Cook and Miss Miller were standing on a reef where they had gone bathing, when the undertow from a storm swept them from their footing. Souter rushed to their aid and held his two companions above the water until life savers from the Harbor Point station arrived. In the excitement Miss Miller and Cook were hauled aboard the boat while Souter was forgotten. Two hours later the body was discover.
