Mr. and Mrs. W .D. Morrison, Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Gaither, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. McAuley and Mrs. A. P. Davidson spent Sunday in Thomasville with Miss Janie Morrison. Miss Morrison, member ot the faculty of the city schools of Thomasville, recently moved into an apartment in Thomasville and during the holiday season she entertained all the members of her family in her new home.

Mrs. Frederick Burger and Miss Katherine Phillips returned early Saturday morning from a week's stay in New York city.

Miss Isabel Gemmell, of Bristol, Va., is visiting her niece, Mrs. Thomas A. Allison, and Mr. Allison.

Dr. and Mrs. Henry E. Pressly of Charlotte, are spending a few days with Dr. Pressly's father, Dr. J. H. Pressly.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Marshburn of Commerce, Ga., are visiting their son, Rev. Robert J. Marshburn, Jr., and Mrs. Marshburn.

Mrs. Charles E. Raynal, who spent the past several months in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, with her son, Rev. Henry Middleton Raynal, returned to Statesville last week. Mrs. Raynal and her sister, Miss Mary Scott, are living at 230 North Race street. Rev. H. M. Raynal, who was here for a few days returned to Berkeley Springs last week.

Born January 1st. at H. F. Long hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Parks Welborn, of 119 Wagner street, a daughter, Patricia Diane. Mrs. Welborn is the former Miss Mildred Mills of Statesville.

After a total of 36 years service, 21 years of which he has served in his present capacity, Mr. Orin L. Turner, president of the Peoples Loan and Savings Bank, will retire effective the first of the year. The bank's board of directors, meeting Friday evening, regretfully acceeded to Mr. Turner's request and granted his request for retirement.
