Mike Cox of Tippah county died
last week and was 114 years of age,
having been born in Ireland in 1796.
He emigrated to this country in 1826
and came to Mississippi in 1842 and
lived in the same community ever
since.

Campell returned Monday from Meridian. Mrs. S. E. Stepp is in Hattiesburg, the guest of Miss Bessie Wagner. Miss Ruth Neely has returned home after a pleasant visit to Gulfport. Mr. Joe Fine, a prominent merchant of Lucedale, is in the city. Dr. P. H. Sanders spent Sunday with his family at Monteagle, Tenn. Prof. C. Lamar Neill is a visitor to Allison's Well in search of health. Mrs. Will B. Moore is enjoying a visit to summer resorts on the gulf coast. Mrs. J. F. Coppa of Gulfport was a last week's visitor with friends in Laurel. Mr. Arthur C. Breckenridge is in Montrose this week recuperating his health. Mrs. J. M. Weems continues to improve in health and is now convalescent. Mrs. E. H. Whitaker and babe left Wednesday for a visit with home folks in Natchez. Mrs. B. W. Scarborough is in Heidelberg visiting with her sister, Mrs. C. P. Clayton, of Columbus, Ms., is the guest of Dr. and Mrs. S. W. Lindsey in Kingston. Mr. Dan Clark is expected home Monday, after an enjoyable outing spent in Kemper county. Mr. Lon Hicks and family returned last Saturday, after a pleasant visit with relatives in Meridian. Miss Nannie Scanlan of Hattiesburg is the guest of her aunt, Miss Scanlan, at the New Laurel Hotel. Edgar K. Feirell returned yesterday from Eutaw, Ala., where he pleasantly spent his vacation with home folks. Miss Margaret Montgomery of Greenville, Miss.,is visiting with her sister, Mrs. J. A. Richey, on Seventh. Ms. Lola Smith of Sanderville is in the city enjoying a trip with her sister, Miss Anna Smith, of the local post office clerical force. Miss Bessie Self returned Monday from New Orleans and was acompanied by Miss Sadie Irvin, who will visit her guest for several days. Mrs. W. L. Wilson is in the country where she will spend several days to recuperate her health. Congressman Adam M. Byrd was in Laurel between trains, Tuesday, en route for Bay Springs, where he was billed to speak. Little Miss Katie Callahas has returned to her home in fakson, Miss. after a month's pleasant visit with Mrs. E. W. Bridges. Mr. A. Karll, one of Laurel's good citizens, leaves tomorrow for Nashville Tenn., to purchase new stock for fall trade. Mrs.Heidelberg and mother, F. S. Gray, leave soon for a trip of several weeks with relatives and friend in Texas.
