A 41-year-old Biddeford man escaped injury when his car crashed a tree here tonight and he later was booked at Alfred County Jail on driving charge. State Patrolman George Eldridge of North Berwick said that Joseph L. Bridges car left the road on High Street and smashed into the tree. Bridges apparently was unhurt. The front of his car was badly damaged, police said Bridges was traveling toward Dover. N. H. when the accident happened.

Mrs. Carolyn Davis was guest of honor at a surprise stork shower at the home of Mrs. Thelma Adjutant. School Street Tuesday evening. Present were Mrs Beatrice Keene, Mrs. Annie Biacy, Mrs Helen Mergendahl, Mrs Annie Perkins, Mrs. Sue Perkins, Mrs Louise Ramsdell,. Mrs. Nancy Jacobs, Mrs Elizabeth Smith, Mrs Gilda Dannert, Mrs. Gertrude Hutchinson, Mrs. Sylvia Hutchins. Mrs Kathryn Porter, Mrs Ethel Smalley, Mrs. Esther Perkins and Mrs. Teresa Hayes, all of Ogunquit, Mrs. Lester Bragdon and Mrs. Russell Perkins of York, Mrs Isabelle Quint of Conway, N. H., and Mrs. Yolande Hilton of Wells. A social hour was held and refreshments were served by the hostess with Mrs Smalley and Mrs. Esther Perkins as co-hostesses.
