Frank Thurston and Geo. Mosher of Rome, were in town, Thursday, on business.

Geo. W. Merrill returned on the Pullman, this morning, from Boston, where he has been attending a meeting of the New England agents of the New York Life Insurance CO.

H. J. Cross returned home this morning, from a short business trip to Boston.

Miss Elizabeth Welch of State street, will Have a cottage built at the Lake and has the lumber on the spot. The location of the cottage is on Welch's point, next to that of Hon. S. W. Carr, C. F. Hoxie will build the cottage, and work will be commenced, next Monday morning.

Mrs. Elizabeth Cony of Weever's restaurant is visiting relatives at Portsmouth, N. H.

The friends of Mrs. John Mullen who fell recently and broke her leg, will be glad to learn that she is feeling much better and is as comfortable as is possible under the circumstances.

Mr. and Mrs. John Toole have returned from a visit to Lynn, Mass.

The many friends of Mrs. Charles A. Harlow will be pleased to learn that she is somewhat improved in her health.

Mr. Fred D. Wyman, whose advertisement appears in another column of this paper, is having big sales of his famous Cherry and Tar Expectorant and thinks that it is a telling proof of its merits. In the window where Mr. Wyman has his medicine displayed is an unusually handsome palm which is admired by many on account of the perfect shape and proportions of the leaves, as well as their freshness.

Mr. J. W. Harmon left on Saturday night for the south. The headquarters will be in Mt. Sterling, Ky., where he will remain for sometime.

Miss Virginia Mary Ring of Chrome will appear Monday evening with the Effie Carleton Company, in the title role of Mabel Holt in "The Want of the Klondike." This is Miss Rings first appearance with a professional company and her debut with the Florence Stock Company.

Mr. Harold G. Folsom, left Friday evening for Hartford, Conn., where he will resume his studies at Trinity College.

Mr. John Matty has purchased from Mrs. George St. Peter the farm situated at Pushaw.

The Happy Hour club will meet with Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hellenbrand next wednesday.

The condition of Major M. M. Folsom is somewhat improved, this news will be received by his friends with great satisfaction.

Mr. F. V. Buzzell was in the city Saturday from his lumber camps on Olamon stream.

The McCausland Ice Co., will cut and house this season about 1,000 tons of ice for their local trade in Old Town. The Ross Ice Co of Bangor, of which account of N. C. McCausland is a member,intends to cut about 5,000 tons.

Mr. W. F. Abbott has gone to Cherryfield on a business.

Mr. H. E. Ring, recently occupying rooms in Pechscot square in the interests of the Queen City Portrait Company, has moved his family to Skowhegan, where he has secured employment in a shoe factory there.

Mr. Edward Miller, has recently sold his handsome roan horse to Mr. Charles Danielson.

Mrs. Addle Hall will entertain the King's Daughters Tuesday evening at her residence on State street.

Mrs. M. M. Curtis, supervisor of the Brewer public schools, is still confined to her house by an attack of a la grippe.
