Mrs. John Loy returned home on
Thursday, after spending a week with
her parents. On Friday she was called
to the bedside of her sister in law, Mrs.
Charles Summers, near Zora, Pa., who
is quite ill.
Mrs Jere Martin, accompanied by her sister in law, Mrs. Joshua Martin, spent Saturday visiting relatives in Baltimore. Mrs George W. Miller, of Lewistown, spent Saturday with her son, Mr. W. L. Miller, and family. Quite a number of persons took advantage of the excursion to Baltimore on Saturday, among them being Mr. and Mrs. 0. W. Loy and son, Maurice, of this place. Mr. Irvin Fisher and family spent Wednesday in Frederick. Mrs. Jere Martin attended the funeral of her cousin, Mr. Edward Firor, in Graceham, on Wednesday. Mr. William Cover, our energetic grain and hay dealer, spent Sunday with his parents at York Road. Mr. O. W. Loy and family were the guests on Sunday of Mr. Edward Graham and family, near Le Gore. Mrs. Mary Ovelman and two children, of near Emmitsburg, visited her mother, Mrs. Jane Layman, who is still very much indisposed. Mrs. Orum, of Jefferson, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. A. D. Thomas. Mrs. Nora Kefanver and two children are spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Flook. Rev. S. A. Hedges, after the sermon on Sunday, installed the newly elected council, Mr. David Measell and Mr. John H. Putman, for elders, and Dr. R. Wachter and Mr. George Eagle, for deacons. Mr. George Shorb is home from attending the fairs. He has quite a lot of ribbons, that show well for his herd of hogs. Mr. Ernest Flanigan, who has been sick all the summer, is looking much better. Mr. John Shank, of Fountain Rock, spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Baer. Mrs. John Lanhart is very ill with stomach trouble. Her son, Mr. George Lenhart, of California, arrived here on Friday night. Mrs. John H. Baer Is suffering with a very bad cold. Mr. Spencer Wachter lost a valuable cow by death last week. Mrs. Newton Wachter, of New Market, visited Mr. Wesley A. Wachter's family on Thursday. Mr. Pierce Michael, of Utioa, visited Mr. and Mrs. 0. J. Smith last Thursday. Mrs. J. H. Myers, of Baltimore, visited her cousin, Mrs. J. P. Angleberger, and Mrs. E. L. Wachter during the fair. Mrs. Howard Wachter, of this place, who has been sick for some time, is getting better. Mr. Wilbert Smith is on the sick list. Mrs. Howard Angleberger is suffering with a bad cold. Mrs. Harvey Wachter is suffering with a bad oold. Mr. S. W. Ramsburg was the first one to finish husking corn. Mr. O. H. Zimmerman and brother, Byron, made a visit to Rocky Springs on Monday night. Mr. Byron L. Zimmerman, of this place, visited his former school on Sunday last. Mrs. Margaret Smith has returned home after spending some time with her niece, Mrs. Charles Bohell, of Frederick. Mrs. Mary Eaton, of Frederick, spent a few days this week with her son, Mr. Ira Eaton, and family. Miss Zelda Smith has returned home after spending several weeks with friends at York, Pa. Miss Sadie Weddle, of Woodsboro, spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Weddle. Mr. John E. Kolb, of Mt. Pleasant, spent one day last week with his sister, Mrs. John H. Delaplace. Mrs. Glayson Snook and two children, of near Detour, spent Saturday at her home. Mr. Louie and Clarence Ogle spent Sunday with Messtrs. Walter and Clarence Whipp. Mr. Edward Renn, of Frederick, having rented the farm of his father. Mr. Calvin Renn, near this place, will take possession this fall. Mr. Frank Stockman and granddaughter, Miss Bessie Stockman, of near Braddook, are making their home with Mrs. Mary Zimmerman, of this place. Miss Florence E. Whipp. who has been spending some time with friends and relatives In Washington, D. C., and Boyds, has returned home much pleased with her trip. Mr. Cornelias Thomas, of Washington, D. C., and Mr. Clinton Thomas, of Buckeystown, visited Mr. O. N. Trundle one day last week. Mrs. Albert Hargett and children, of Baltimore, Mrs. Shaeffer and daughter, Nellie, of near Buckeystown, Mrs. Susan Waskey and Mrs. Lavi Waskey and son were the guests of Mrs. G. B. Culler last week. Mrs. Baker and daughter, Maude, and Miss Margaret Hartman, of Frederick, visited Mrs. W. G. Baker recently. Mr. Thomas Trundle, of Brunswick, spent Sunday with O. N. Trundle. Mrs. Samuel Willhide spent Sunday with Miss Jennie Bowers, of this place. Mr. and Mrs. George Elchelberger and family, of this place, spent Saturday last in Baltimore. While Mr. John Wood, of this place, was picking pears recently he killed a black snake measuring 7 feet, 10 inches in length. Mr. George Elchelberger, Jr., who is employed by the Western Maryland Railroad, has been home on a vacation with his wife for a few days. Mr. John Wood and family spent Sunday with his parents at Rocky Ridge. Master Clyde Speaks, of Creagerstown, spent Sunday with Mr. John Speaks, of this place. Rev. and Mrs. Carter and two children, of Riverside, New Jersey, are spending a few weeks with his father and sister. Mrs. Baughman is spending some time with her sister, Mrs. Bernard Colliflower, who has been sick for some time. Miss Heagy, of Gettysburg, is spending a few days with her aunt, Mrs. D. L. Seiss. Mrs. Jennie Martin and daughter, who spent a few days with her son at Waynesboro, have returned, accompanied by her granddaughter, Helen Martin. Mr. Uriah Firor and wife, of Baltimore, attended the funeral of his brother, Mr. Edward Firor. Mrs. Lizzie Hookensmith, of Waynesboro, Mrs. Grace Colliflower and daughter, Rosa, of Philadelphia, spent a few days with Mr. D. L. Seiss and family. Mr. John Hockensmith and wife, of Taneytown, spent Sunday with his sister, Mrs. William Six. Mr. John Seiss and family, of Rocky Ridge, spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Seiss. Mr. Eyler and family, of Waynesboro, spent a few days with Mrs. Eyler's brothers, the Messrs Six. The Ladies Aid Society will meet at Mrs. Julia Conners on Saturday afternoon. The supper held by the society Was quite a success. Miss Eliza Young, near Thurmont, and Mrs Smith, of Woodsboro, spent Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Margaret Ogle. Mr. and Mrs. John Aldridge and son spent Sunday with Mrs. Louisa Olay and family. Misses Nora and Mary Young spent Sunday with the Misses Johnson. Mr. M. J. Palmer spent Saturday and Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Palmer, of Hansonville. Mrs. Louisa Olay spent Sunday morning with Mr. and Mrs. Granville Dayhoff. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Blackstein spent from Saturday until Sunday with Mr and Mrs. Wesley Fogle, of Johnsville. Mr. Ira Runkles spent Sunday with his parents, near Mt. Airy. Mr. and Mrs. James Dayhoff are spending a few days with their daughter, Mrs. Charles Tebbitts, of Washington, D. C. Mrs. Harvey Johnson, who has been very ill with typhoid fever, is slowly improving. Rev. Benson, of Urbana, conducted services at Koontz's on Sunday afternoon. Rev. John Paul Tyler will begin his revival services at Flint Hill on November 11, at 7.30 p. m. Mrs. Annie Dixon, of this place, who has been spending some time in Montgomery county, has returned home.
