W. S. Smith of Mt. Zion, A. R. Scott of Bethany, S. P. Drake of Lovington, B. Z. Tyler, Charles N. Twadell and W. H. Suffern of Decatur, organizers of the Belt Line Telephone company, asked permission to connect their wires with some convenient business office in the city and petitioned for permission to erect poles and string wires on such streets and alleys as may be necessary, the route to be designated by the street and alley committee.

WOBURN, MASS., April 1, 1 p. m. An awful boiler explosion occurred this morning in the Taunary at this place, resulting in the death of Austin Clemens, Patrick Lally, Thomas Patterson, Patrick McGonagle and Sam Tracy. Several others were seriously hurt.

Charles Kolp moved to our village last week.

S. H. Kaylor's eyes are affected by an unknown disease.

G. N. Urban, professor of Elwin school, has resigned his position and accepted a position in the Railway Mail service.

H. C. Kaylor, W. J. Meyer, M. A. Connard, D. K. McDaniel, G. W. Cunningham, G. W. Shively, Adam King and Karl Siehr were in Decatur Saturday. John L. Bowman died Wednesday morning at five o'clock with typhoid pneumonia. His funeral took place at Bethlehem Thursday at 2 p. m. The interment was made at Salem cemetery. April 1, 1895.
