Andrew Foster is recovering from his late Illness.

L. G. Marlow of Lake City has finished Mrs. Bowers' new residence.

Miss Boggard is assisting Mrs. Lizzie Winings in her millinery store.

Elder R. E. Howell preached at the Jonathan Creek church Sunday.

Bert Pollard closed a very successful term of school at Fairview district Friday.

Misses Alta and Grace Dawson left Monday for Danville, Ind., where they will attend college.

Miss Berdina Shook has been engaged to teach in the school at Arthur the coming winter.

Judge Nelson of Decatur will deliver the address here on Decoration Day. Memorial services will be held Sunday morning at the Christian church.

Miss Grace Dawson gave a sociable Saturday evening that was attended by a large number of her friends. With games and music they whiled away the pleasant hours of the evening.

Married, at the residence of the bride's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Austin Timmons, on Sunday, Lewis Richardson to Miss Cora Timmons. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Ashcraft in the presence of a number of invited guests. A sumptuous wedding feast was served.

Rev. James Crowder called on a number of old friends here Tuesday last.

Miss Dora Hewes of Chicago is visiting relatives and friends in our village and vicinity.

Rev. Predmore, a former pastor at this place, filled Rev. Clark's appointment here Sunday. His sermon was doctrinal and edifying and showed that he has made his mark as a minister since be left us.

Prof. Kelly closed his spring term of school with us on Friday. A few visitors were present. The children rendered some pieces, interspersed with singing and the teacher treated to the candy. A pleasant time was enjoyed by all present. Prof. Kelly has been employed to teach the school next winter again. E. B. Smith closed his school on the same day with similar exercises. He will teach at Sangamon the coming year and be at home with his family.

Hon. W. G. Cochran of Sullivan will deliver the memorial sermon at the M. E. church next Sunday.

Robert Sipe purchased the building occupied by Wiley & Son, and the residence occupied by John Eiley and family this week.

Willie Uppendahl visited Decatur Tuesday.

Mrs. Barber and W. H. Martin visited Springfield Monday.

R. B. Combest and J. N. Loving visited Findlay Thursday.

Chauncy Turpin transacted business at Springfield Tuesday.

A. S. Clark will build a fine residence in the west part of town.

J. N. Loving attended to legal business at Lake City Friday.

Harvey Vest took possession of the Dalton City hotel Monday.

Joe Weaver and wife are visiting John Weaver and wife In Decatur.

Miss Fannie Edmiston has graduated from the Decatur business college.

Dick Best has moved to Decatur where he will engage In the blacksmith business.

John Brady is the new town marshal.

Rev. Rust returned to St. Louis Monday.

Miles Peck is home for a few days from his work on the Wabash.

Assessor Briggs of Willow Branch township was in town Monday.

Six or seven persons from here attended the funeral of J. O. Sparks at Bement last Thursday.

Grace Mallernee will spend the summer with her sister in Williamsburg. She went there last week. John Loeflier, our former principal, went to Atwood Saturday. From there he will go to his former home In Michigan.

Calvin Shiveley is now an operator at Gibson City, and Harley Foirath has a similar position at the east end office in the Decatur yards.
