Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Sumner, of
Chicago, visited the home folks Sunday
and Monday.
Emil Quindel left Tuesday morning for two weeks stay on his father's ranch at Lakota, North Dakota. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs. H. Schmidt attended a birthday party at F. H. Lichthardt's Sunday. Mrs. Wasmond visited friends in Dundee Friday. Dr. Henry Staib of Chicago visited the home folks over Sunday. Mrs. Hench and grandson of Dundee were weekend guests of Mrs. Lobdell. William Doyle and family of Chicago, were weekend guests of Bartlett relatives. Misses Sophia and Anna Baxman and Dorothy Kelley were Elgin shoppers Saturday. Mrs. Fisk of Lombard visited at the home of her brother, Robert Harris, last week. Miss Amelia Struckman was among the sick the past week, but is reported improving. Miss Martha Barteit of Elgin was an over Sunday guest of her sister, Mrs. Harmening, Jr. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Schmidt of Chicago were weekend guests of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Schmidt. Mrs. Gould entertained her music pupils at her home Friday afternoon. An informal musical program was given. The Norton farm of 164 acres has been sold to Dr. Murphy of Aurora at $140 per acre. Waterman school opened Tuesday with Miss Eleanor Putman of Palatine teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Heimann attended funeral of Mrs. Lange at Marengo and Dundee. The funeral of William Schramm who committed suicide by shooting himself in the chest last Thursday, took place from his late home Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Wortman of Sheridan called at the Gould home Saturday. Mrs. Henry Hoffman entertained her father, Rev. King over Labor Day. Mrs. William Krunnfuss attended the funeral of John Berlin at Palatine. The funeral of Mrs. Ernest Ehlert was held at Dundee Wednesday. noon. Carrier William Leuck back on Route 1, Dundee after his two weeks vacation. A new stove has been put in the Center public school house. Miss McCorey as teacher will open school Monday Sept. 20. H. E. Quindel left Tuesday for Lakota, N. D., to inspect and market the heavy crops on his big farm 2,480 acres and 2,200 acres.
