Kenneth Melson left Osage Monday
for his home in Philadelphia,
Pa., after spending the weekend
with his mother, Mrs. Christina Melson.
He flew to Dubuque Saturday
and then motored to Osage.
A visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dunning, Bristow, is Mr. Dunning's brother, Carl Dunning of Minneapolis, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Marr, who spent their vacation in Alta Vista left Monday to return to their home in Chicago. Mrs. J. C. Marr and Elvoy drove them to New Hampton where they took a train to the city. Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Barlow left Dumont Sunday on a vacation trip to the west coast. Mrs. Jane Meyer of Palo Alto, Cal., is visiting relatives in the Westgate area. Mrs. Harold F. Whittle of Beverly Hills, Cal., is visiting her father, A. E. Glenny, 2409 West Fourth street. Mrs. Whittle will be joined here for the weekend by her husband, who is in New York and Washington, D. C , before they return home. Miss Bonnie Peverill was hostess Monday evening at a picnic attended by 26 persons, including employes of the Peoples Savings bank and their families. The event was at the country home of the hostess parents, Mr. and Mrs Allen Peverill, Highway 20. The evening was spent in playing games, ping pong, dancing, and airplane rides, given by Weldon Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. George Reed of Iowa Falls have left for a trip through the southern states. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Finke and Dorothy of Bristow are in Mankato, Minn., visiting Mrs. Finke's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Hassing, and will also visit her brother and sister-in-law Mr. ard Mrs. William Becker and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Becker at Nicollet, Minn. Mrs. Annie Wilts of Holland left Monday to spend a week visiting her daughter, Mrs. Ted Buchan, in Minneapolis, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Ludwig and daughter of Forreston, ILL., left Monday after spending a long weekend at the home of J. A. Franken in Holland. Sunday the visitors were guests at a family gathering in the Franken home. Mrs. Carl Kent of Sumner is in Milwaukee, Wis., to visit relatives. She accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Fridley, who had been spending a week in Sumner. Mrs. Henry S. Shales of Sumner is en route to California to spend several weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Howard Schug at Long Beach. Mrs. Harold Frisch entertained at a dinner Sunday evening as a courtesy for her husband on his birthday anniversary. Guests were present from Waucoma. Mr. and Mrs. Nels Sorensen arrived from New Prague, Minn., and will open a grocery store in Evansdale, la., this week. Henry Beekly, San Diego, Cal, is spending two weeks in Waterloo visiting his sister, Mrs. Hubert Sweitzer, 803 Randolph street, and his brother, Hubert Beekly, 443 Campbell avenue. Mrs. Coral Athwood of San FranCisco, Cal., arrived here Saturday to visit friends and relatives in Waterloo and Dunkerton. Mrs. L. S. Rickard, 1314 West Seventh street, received word Tuesday that a former Waterloo resident, Mrs. Hubert Williams, is in an Albuquerque, N. M., hospital under treatment for a fractured hip.
