Mary Margaretha Stephen was born Sept. 17, 1823, in Englestadt Kreis Bingen, Germany. She came to America July 24, 1844, setting first in Buffalo, N. Y. In 1849 she was united in marriage to John Stephen, who died at Sutton, Nebr., in 1893. Mrs. Stephen passed away Jan. 13, 1910 She was commonly known as "Mother" Stephen by her children and many friends in the Dysart community

On January 1, 1910, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Minkel celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. Nearly 50 relatives and friends called on the Minkels during the day.

John McGregor, who was in jail at Toledo charged with burglary, cut his way to liberty Feb. 8, 1911, and escaped. He stole the sheriff's coonskin overcoat as he left.

The J. T. Findley farm west of Dysart was rented in 1902 to Frank Ferreter of Cedar Rapids, for a term of three years at $3.75 per acre.

The Dysart High School senior class presented a play "The Confederate Spy" on April 2, 1909. Included in the cast were: John Christiansen, Rudolph Kuehl, Albert Reimer, Harry Van Winkle, Lee Aldrich, Irvin Hecht, Walter Moeller, L. von Lackum, Leta Chrisman, Eva Hix and Marcelli Dempsey.

The Henry Messer residence in south Dysart was sold May 23. 1913, to Wm. Waller of Homer township. The Waller family moved to town in the fall of 1913 to make this their home.

Ed Holtz started work in a Reinbeck barber shop on Dec. 8, 1902.

On Nov. 28, 1909, John Hahn, a farmer living near Dysart in Clark township left Dysart for a trip around the world. Mr. Hahn stated that the trip would cover about 23,000 miles. He expected to visit several relatives on trip.

Frank Frost, of Mooreville. purchased a new Colby touring car in May 1913.

Gust Kahler, 65, a long-time citizen of Crystal township, passed away Jan. 17, 1917, following an illness with pleurisy. He was survived by seven children, his wife having died several years before. Rev. H. Christiansen conducted the funeral and burial was at the Crystal cemetery.

Mrs. Earl Buck, 43, died Jan. 8, 1932, at the family home near Garrison. She was the former Susie Shaffer. They had four children.
