The Windyville Neighbors club
met Tuesday, June 5th with
LaVonne Symonds with all but one
member in attendance. Guests were
Mrs. Wilma Bunting and Roland,
Mrs. Hadley and Mrs. Smith. The
afternoon was enjoyed socially. The
next meeting will be June 26th,
with Beulah Bissell. Refreshments
of cake, ice cream and coffee were
served by Mrs. Symonds at the
close of the afternoon,
A family gathering was held Sunday June 10th. at the Harold Johannes home. Those attending were, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Sparks and Merrill, Mrs. Nora Hickman, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hickmnn and Ralph Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rogers, Mrs. Donald Forrest and Donna Kaye, Mrs. Bob Wahe, Jeanette, Jerry and Lillian, Mr. and Mrs. Varel Dodge, Diane and Hollis, Miss Anita Rogers, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Rogers, Marilyn, Franklin and Ronald, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Miller and family, the honored guests were Mr. and Mrs. Will Hlckman, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Hickman. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hall and Mrs. Alma Lampher from Ft. Morgan and Brush, Colorado. The host and hostess, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Johannes and their children, Bernard, Boyd, and Lola. Miss Ruth Slaten, daughter of Mrs. Mattie J. Slaten of Blocklon, Iowa was married June 3rd to Marvin McMorran in the Bedford Baptist church, Bedford, Iowa. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry McMorran of Corning, Iowa. Rev. Cowels of Bedford read the double-ring service. Mrs. Richard Sinten accompanied Miss Norma Boyd who sang "Because." The "Lord's Prayer" was sung as they knelt at the altar following the ceremony. The church was decorated with tall baskets of pink and white peonies. The bride was gowned In white satin, fashioned with a gored skirt and a aisle wide train. The scalloped yoke and sleeves were of nylon lace and her sleeves came to a point over her hands. Her fingertip illusion veil was edged in lace and was fastened to a white satin cap. Her only Jewelry was a dou- ble strand of pearls. a gift of the groom. She carried a white Bible, which was topped with a spray of pink roses. White cnndles Were lighted by Gene and Joyce Dixon, twin cou- sins of the groom. Sunday dinner guests in the Elmer Keith home were Bill Heyt of Cuberland, Mrs. E J Keith, Mrs. Russell Keith, Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Hiley, the host and hostess. Percy and John. The Happy Housewife club met with Mrs. Rosa Hall, June 6. There were eight members present. Including our new member. Mrs. Darlene Van Meter. The afternoon was spent, visiting after which the hostess served a very nice lunch. The next meeting will be with Mrs. Debbie Holtman, June 20. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wray, Roland and Maryln entertained at supper in the Fred Shepherd home, Saturday evening in honor of Pvt. Dale Shepherd, home on leave from Atlanta, Georgia. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Windom. Dean and Marlyn, Dean Knodle. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shepherd and Harold. Howard Elders was an evening caller. Muddy roads prevented the group from going to the Wray home. A large assembly of relatives which Included forty-nine children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, spent the day Sunday, June 10th in the home of Mrs. Bertha Walton, of Carbon, in honor of Jimmie Barton, who recently returned from Korea with the 1st Marines. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Pete Smith and girls, Mr. and Mrs. Willis (Bud) Walton and family, Mrs. Harley Armstrong and son, all of Carbon. Mr.and Mrs. Wayne Barton and children, Mrs. Mary Branan, Connie Peairs, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dueling and family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Swain and son, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Nelson and children, Mr. and Mrs. Mick Yearington and daughter, all of Corning. Mrs. Charles Townsend of Corning, the honored guest and hostess. A fine pot-luck dinner and supper were enjoyed by the group.
