The announcement Tuesday of the marriage of L. D. Buck came as a surprise to his patrons and friends, who were not aware that in the wee small hours of that same day he had taken to himself a bride in the person of Miss Cora Smith of Long Island, New York. The ceremony, which was to have been performed the evening before, was delayed because Miss Smith did not make the expected train connections, but immediately upon her arrival the couple went to the home of Rev. Robert A. George, where the ceremony was performed at 3 o'clock in the morning. Mr. Buck's many friends are extending congratulations and good wishes to him and his bride.

Mrs. Lenora Tindall and Fred Randolph were married last Saturday night at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Ott, on Faulkner street.The marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. R. A. George in the presence of the near relatives. The bride has resided here for the last two years with her parents. Mr. Randolph has been a resident here about the same length of time and is an employee at the railroad shops. The newly married couple went immediately to the C. A. Pape home, which they will occupy during the summer. A wedding supper was served them in their new home by the bride's mother.

Frank Fuller spent Sunday in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Waterman was a week end visitor in DeLand.

Maurice W. Ashton is driving a new Ford car these days.

Mrs. E. Gowdy spent the week in Jacksonville visiting her son, George E. Gowdy.

Gladys and Hallie Vaughn visited their mother in St. Augustine last weekend.

Mrs. T. J. Harvey returned Saturday from a visit of several days in Titusville.

Mrs. J. C. Hill and children went to Jacksonville Tuesday, returning home Wednesday.

Mrs. William Jones returned Saturday from a visit with friends from Jacksonville.

Mrs. R. D. Hockett and two children spent Sunday and Monday in St. Augustine with relatives.

M. F. Smith and wife arrived the latter part of last week and are a the Barber house at Coronado.

Mrs. Dorothy Busby came home Sunday from a visit of several weeks with Mrs. W. J. Sams at Stuart.

Mrs. K. L. Chilton and children left Wednesday for Tampa and will remain several weeks visiting friends.

Mrs. Mac Knapp left last Friday for their home in Flint, Mich. Miss Maude Knapp accompanying them for the summer.

Jas. H. Fry of Cleveland, Ohio, is at the Barber house at Coronado for a stay of some time.

Miss Elice Hulett of Meridian, Miss., is a guest at the home of her cousin, Mrs. W. R. Mathews.

Misses Corinne and Lone Neal will motor to St. Augustine Sunday to visit Kewatin school.

Mrs. T. J. Murray left last week for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. Hilda Bryan, at Dania.

Mrs. L. H. Elias is spending a few days in DeLand at the home of her mOther, Mrs. M. Davis.

Mrs. J. W. Rowe and daughter Mae will leave today for a short visit with relatives In Fernandina.

Sam Shirk and sister Miss Ellen will leave today for their northern home in Brookville, Ind.

Miss Ruth Vaughan went to Sanford Saturday to spend Sunday with her mother, returning Monday.

Mrs. Maggie Knapp spent the weekend in Jacksonville visiting Sister Constance, and Bessie Hawley.

Mrs. Karl Leipold returned Sunday from DeLand, where she had been for a few days caring for a sick baby.

John Y. Detwiler will leave Monday for Tallahassee to remain through the greater part of the legislative session.

Mrs. W. E. Kates is expected from Palatka tomorrow to attend the marriage of her granddaughter, Miss Ruth Courtney.

L. H. Dunbar and niece Miss Dunbar came over from Longwood on Wednesday and will spend some time at the Barber house at the beach.

Mrs. J. C. McCullough spent last Friday and Saturday in Oak Hill, being called there by the illness of her mother, Mrs. William Robinson.

B. H. Wilson was in the city on business over the weekend, leaving Tuesday on his return to Washington, where he now holds a position as auditor in the treasury department.

Miss Louise Thompson will arrive from St. Augustine today and Willie Thompson will come tomorrow to be guests at the Courtney home and to attend the Courtney-Arnold wedding Sunday.

Charles Lee cames up Tuesday from Palm Beach, where he has been acting as agent for the express company during the winter season.

Mrs. E. W. Hopkins and little grandson and daughter Helen, will leave Monday for their northern home in Ironwood, Mich., after spending several weeks here in their cottage on Magnolia street.

Mr. and Mrs. L. Sutton and three children returned to their home in fellsmere Sunday after a visit at the Vailace home here. Miss Frances Vailace accompanied them home for visit of some length.

Robert Athearn who recently resigned his position in the Corner Drug store, returned Monday from Ft. Pierce, where he had been visiting for several days, and has taken a position in the railroad shops.

Kirby Dohn Chilton celebrated his seventh birthday anniversary Saturday by inviting a number of his little friends to enjoy the matinee at the picture show, going from there to the drug store for ice cream.

The Ladies Altar society met last Thursday at the home of Mrs. P. R. Lopez. Plans were made for an Easter sale of cake, candy and ice cream.

Mr. and Mrs. N. F. Brandt have purchased from Wm. H. Berger the residence property they have been occupying for sometime on the river front.

Gabriel Gomez came home Wednesday from St. Augustine, where he has been visiting since the closing of the Royal Poincianna hotel at Palm Beach.

Tom Brooke is carrying his left arm in a sling these days as the result of a fall from a logging train at the Cummermill, his arm being broken in the fall.

John Robertson who returned a few weeks ago from foreign service, is now in the aerial mail service beween Washington and Hampton.

Mrs. D. C. Fairweather, delegate from Orange Grove No. 55, Woodmen Circle, left Sunday morning to attend the state convention of the Woodmen Circle, which met in Orlando Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

Mr. and Mrs. M. N. Allen left on Wednesday for their northern home in Falconer, N. Y., after spending the winter in their cottage on Palmetto street.

Mr.and Mrs. J. C. Benet will occupy their cottage during the summer.

Mrs. K. L. Chilton Mr.and Mrs. A. W. Shattuck and Mrs. H. L. Lowd left Wednesday for Tampa to attend the sessions of the grand chapter of Eastern Star, which began that day. Mrs. D. N. Disbennett is also attending the meeting.

Mr. and Mrs. W. Weiser left on Wednesday for their northern home in Marietta, Ohio, after a stay of two weeks at the Rio Vista hotel.

Mr. and Mrs. Weiser have spent several winters here but have purchased a home at Palm Beach.

The Five Hundred club was entertained Wednesday night by Mrs. Hufford at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Dohn. The ladies' prizes were won by Mrs. Young and Miss Anna Wray, and the gentlemens prizes went to Mrs. Pennell and Mrs. Sprague.

L. B. Miller who has been a guest for several weeks at the Rio Vista left Monday for the north, accompanied by his nurse and chauffeur.

Mr. Miller planned to take the Clyde boat from Jacksonville to New York, where he is to meet Mrs. Miller and together they will go to Atlantic City for a stay before going to their home.
