Alfred McDonald is enlarging his house by building a kitchen and dining room.

Mrs. John Osteen's baby's ankles are improving rapidly under Dr. Bohannon's care.

Sidney Williams was home from East Palatka for a few days.

At the home of the bride's parents in Lake Helen at eleven o'clock last Tuesday morning, Miss Kathleen Cox and William H. Coombs were united in marriage, the ceremony being per formed by the Rev. Mr. Webb of Lake Helen and witnessed by only relatives and immediate friends of the bride and groom.The bride is a well known and popular young woman of Lake Helen, and the groom is employed in the Flagler system yard in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Coombs returned to New Smyrna Tuesday evening and have begun housekeeping in one of the in-Laws houses on Palmetto St.

Mrs. H. A. Summerall made a trip to Port Orange Monday.

J. A. Woodward and wife left on Tuesday for Hendersonville, N. C., where they will spend the summer.

Percy Branmerg went to Daytona yesterday to attend a house party at Daytona Beach.

Mrs. Robert Mims came down from Hastings yesterday for a visit with New Smyrna relatives.

Mrs. O. L. Hinson of Palatka spent the first part of the week in this city as the guest of friends.

Briggs Branning returned the last of the week from Miami, where he has been visiting with his uncle.

Mrs. H. A. Jernigan and son and sister, Mrs. T. C. Wilhite,left yesterday for Tennessee, where they will spend the remainder of the summer with relatives.

W. S. Denslow and L. E. Amidon returned yesterday from a busines trip to Orlando, Lakeland and Tampa.

M. Leidersdorf has been busy this week shipping watermelons in car load lots to the northern market from the five acre patch on his farm at Briggsville.

Mr.and Mrs. W. C. Baggett of Red Springs, N. C. are located with us for the season.

S. T. Arthur a prominent trucker from Sanford, with his family, are located in the Brown cottage, south beach for the summer season.

Mr. Carr and family of Kissimmee are comfortably located in their home on this beach for the summer. We are glad to have our old friends return each summer.

Recent news from West Milton, Ohio,indicates that Dr. W. H. Kessler is quite dangerously ill. Dr. Kessler has been spending his winters here for a number of years and has many friends who will regret to learn of his sickness.

Mrs. James L. Pattillo is spending a few days with Mrs. Frank Alexander at her home at Beresford on the west side of the county, having accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Alexander home from here last Friday.

The friends of Mr. Bull will regret to learn that there has been no improvement in his condition since last reports.

Cornelius Christiancy returned home Sunday from his outing with F. N. Conrad to various states in the north and east.

Miss Hattie Bangs has gone to Ft. Pierce to spend some time with her sister, Mrs. L. N. Crews.

Little Lloyd Lovelace of Jacksonville is here for a visit with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Carter, having returned home with his grandmother last week.

S. O. Doty had the misfortune to have someone steal his small motor boat from his dock on the river last week and at the present time no clue as to the thief has been discovered.

John Cruel, the negro who broke into the home of Mrs. Sarah Fox about a year ago, and for which he was sentenced to ten years in the state gang, has recently escaped. A reward ot $100 is offered for his capture.

J. H. Carrow, is delivering another carload of lumber to Wilbur by the Sea for W. H. Eaton.

Mrs. M. J. Murphy and two children, Hazel and Cecil, went over to Orange Mills Friday and remained until Sunday afternoon. The trip was made to arrange for certain work to be done on Mrs. Murphy's orange grove at that place.

Miss Ott returned home Friday from a three weeks visit with her friend, Mrs. Mary Beeman in Orlando. Miss Ott had a very pleasant time indeed and was much benefited in consequence.

Mrs. S. B. Gantz is greatly pleased to have her daughter, Mrs. W. B. Atwood, who arrived last week from Charlotteviile, Va., with her for the summer.

Mr. Atwood is one of the government workers in the agriculture department, being chief chemist of his division and has his labrotory at Charlottesville. Mrs. Atwood made her mother a short visit here last summer.

Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Turnley of Lake Forest, IL., and friend, Miss DeHoy of DeLand have taken rooms at the Raymond, and are greatly enjoying the sea bathing.

Ernest G. Kemp, who is engaged in the moving picture business at Tampa, will come home the first of the month to spend the Fourth with his father and sister at their home on North Halifax avenue.

Mrs. J. B. Abercrombie and niece, Miss May Allen, left the latter part of last week to spend the summer visiting relatives and friends in Georgia and Alabama.

Miss Dean, who is well known here in hotel circles, opened her summer hotel the Colonial last Saturday, June 20th at Ocean City, Md.

E. S. Roberts and wife, newlyweds, are occupying Professor Wakefleld's small cottage on Oakridge avenue.

Virgil Harton returned last week from Paducah, Ky., and has taken a position as machinist at the Williams garage.

Mrs. M. Courtney is spending the summer with Mr. and Mrs. H. T. Wetherby on North Peninsula drive. Mrs. Wetherby has not yet recovered from an operation performed some time ago.

Prof. D. D. Davis is busy this week checking up the J. W. Fulgham stock of dry goods which is being placed on the counters in the storeroom leased by Mr. Fulgham in the Van Valzah block, Daytona Beach. The store will open Saturday of this week.

Mrs. W. P. Mathas and youngest son left last Thursday to visit her mother at Tuscola, IL., who is in feeble health.

Mrs. A. W. Powers and sister, Mrs. C. F. Burgman leave Monday, June 29 to spend the summer at Monteagle, Tenn., where they have leased a cottage for the season. The Chautauqua opens July 1, and a number of brilliant speakers and well-known scientist are on the lecture course.

C. F. Wetherell and son, Carl, and daughters, Bessie and Hazel, went to Jacksonville on the excursion last week.

Mrs. M. E. Simmons and her daughter Mrs. Peeler came over Saturday from Maitland and are occupying the Hillbard beach cottage, which was engaged by Mrs. Peeler on a previous trip. Mrs. Simmons visited the beach seven or eight years ago, and is very much delighted with the improvements of the town, and especially those made in the beach cottages.

Mrs. Joseph Beatty came over from the county seat Saturday and was a guest at the Gray Gables until Monday when she returned home.

Miss Nina Miller and C. M. Bielby of DeLand were Sunday guests at the Gray Gables.

The Neptune entertained a party of 20 from Wednesday last week until Monday as follows, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Snively, L. L. Davis and wife, S. C. Inman and wife and daughter, Miss Alice Inmann, all of Winter Park, and Mrs. C. H. Thompson, Florence Villa, Mr.and Mrs. L. L. Niles and daughter, Miss Margaret, and son Elden, H. M. Smith and son Sydney Plymouth at the Clarendon hotel.
