Julius Hart of Beacon Falls was in
town this afternoon on business.
Colonel Horne of Winsted is in town today. He is the guest of D. D. Gibbud. Miss Margaret Sanderson of Boston is visiting her cousin, William Murphy of Sweeney street. Mrs. Fred Dennin of Maldon, Mass., is visiting her sister, Mrs. Thomas Northrop of Oak street. Mrs. Howard Crampton of New York is visiting Mrs. George Crampton of Highland Avenue. Mrs. Fitzpatrick of Bethany is confined to the house by sickness. She formerly resided in Nangatuck. Mrs. M. P. Coen who has been spending her vacation at the West Haven shore, returned home last evening. Mrs. John Murphy of Main street, who has been spending her vacation in Northampton, Mass., has returned home. Miss Blanche Rice of Worcester, Mass., and Miss Belle Mallory of Danbury are guests of Miss Edith Trowbridge of Highland ave. Patrick Burns, Frank Kelleher and Martin Ward left this afternoon for Hudson, Mass., where they will go to work in the shoe factory. Charles N. Freeman of Branford has accepted a position as prescription clerk at the Naugantuck Drug company's store and will enter upon his now duties tomorrow morning. Charles H. Burn has resigned his position as local agent for the Metropolitan Insurance company and has taken a similar position with the Metropolitan company in Waterbury. Some very interesting letters have been received from John Fitzpatrick and Charles T. McCarthy, who are traveling in Europe. Both gentlemen are in excellent health and are greatly enjoying themselves. Mr. McCarthy, however, is of the opinion that the United States is God's own country, after all. Mr. Johnson of Cherry street will sail for Sweden tomorrow, where he will spend a two-months vacation. He goes to Sweden for the benefit of his health. Walter F. Laily of the firm of Laily & Co., of Bridgeport, was in town today calling on friends. Misses Lizzie and Stella Canary of Brooklyn, N. Y., are guests of Michael W. O'Brien of Maple street. M. J. Quinn of Derby has resigned his position as superintendent of the Metropolitan Life Insurance com pany. His place has been taken by Thomas J. Keats of Pawtucket.
