Mr. Bob Hail, of this community
was buried Monday afternoon at
Enon. Mr. Hail, is survived by his
wife and five children.
Miss Thelma Gondy, was out of school today due to illness. Miss Gondy, lives near Mr. Carmel. There will be a concert by the Spear family at Eva High School, Saturday night before the fifth Sunday in January. Two and a half hours of good gospel singing is in store. All are invited to attend. The Rooks family of Union Hill, have been in bed with the flu. They are on the road to recovery now. Mr. Jim Long, and family are moving today to Mrs. Cora Rimgie's place near Mt Carmel. B. L. Brown, Mt Carmel, is wiring Mr. Luther Wood's house on Union Hill Rozella Satterfield, and her little grandson, of Houston, Tex., are now visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown, of Mt Carmel. Rozella Satterfield, is visiting friends in Guntersville, this week. Mrs. Cecil Reid, returned home Sunday after having spent a week in Birmingham, because of the illness of her mother, Mrs. E. S. Bee. Upon her return home, Mrs. Reid came down with an attack of bronchitis herself, caught from her mother, which has kept her in bed most of this week. Back in Cullman for a visit with her daughter, Mrs. E. B. Barnes, and family and Mrs. Kathleen Provano, who has been away since the week before Christmas. Harry Fuller, spent three days of this week in Montgomery, attending a meeting of optometrists. On Sunday, Mrs. Fuller took Harry Jr., and Wayne over to Jasper for a short visit with her mother. On Monday evening, Mrs. Luther Morris, was hostess to the Barbara Hecht Circle of the First Methodist Church at her home, with Mrs. Carl Kinney and Mrs. Clyde Eidson as co-hostesses. Dr. and Mrs. R. A. Culpepper, who have been vacationing in Miami for several weeks, are not expected to return home for another week or so. What a nice time to be away from this cold rainy weather and down in the land of sunshine, Russell Smith, and Mr. G. W. Ponder, Sr., are spending this week in New Orleans. Congratulations to Mrs. Leldon Singleton, on the chairmanship of the Bledsoe Young Matron's Circle of the First Baptist Church. They met Monday night at the home of Mrs. Owen Williams. The other Young Matron's Circle met on the same evening with Mrs. Roy Woodard. Guests were Mrs. Joel Yates, who joined at this time, and Mrs. Fred Hale. Leaving Tuesday for her home in Bogalusa, La.,was Mrs. W. D. Stanley, who has been visiting Dr. and Mrs. Voight Culpepper. Dr. and Mrs. E. G. Plunkett spent the weekend in Birmingham. Mrs. Charles Pigg returned Monday from a visit of several days vith her family in Lewisburg, Tenn. Mrs. Joel Yates, was hostess Wednesday evening to her bridge club. Delightful refreshments were served to twelve ladies. Mrs. M. L. Robertson, spent Monday in Birmingham. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Rainey, have moved from Mrs. Ruth Griffin's apartment into a home in the East School Addition. Mr. and Mrs. Lex Taylor, and family will move to their former home, Florence, Ala., in about two weeks. Mr. Taylor left Monday to assume his new duties of operating a variety store which he recently purchased. He has been associated with the Yost stores here for the past year. Congratulations to Joyce V. Griffin, and L. T. Robertson, who will be married next month. Wasn't that a lovely picture of Joyce in our local papers and the Birmingham News last week? Have you noticed that Joyce gets back her mother's maiden name of Robertson, although L. T. is not even distantly related to our Cullman Robertson's. Also want to congratulate Hudson Millar and Helen Vogel who were married in a quiet ceremony Sunday. They will be at home in the Morrow Apartments. Among our nicest newcomers are Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Stocks, and children, Bill, Margaret, and Janice, who moved into one of Mr. T. A. Smith's new houses on Austin Street Saturday. They came from Birmingham. Mr. Stocks is associated with Liberty National Brown-Service Insurance Company. Among our nicest long-time residents are the ladies who keep our pre school age children, namely, Mrs. R. P. Johnston, who has kindergarden on the East side of town and Mrs. Grace Tompkins, on the West side, who will keep even the tiniest ones in her "Kiddie Klass" all day and until ten o'clock in the evening. If it weren't for these kind ladies, many of our young mothers wouldn't ever be able to participate in any activities outside the home. Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Gray, and family of West Point visited the Baptist Church, at the evening services, Sunday evening, January 15th. Mrs. Gray, president of the West Side Baptist Association's W. M. U. was guest speaker at that service. Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Anderton, and family of Birmingham spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderton. Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Tidwell, and daughter, Barbara, with Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Farmer, were visiting in Arab Sunday afternoon. Charles Weber, of Birmingham was weekend guest of Eddie Seibert. Miss Millie McKenzie, was Saturday night guest of her brother Mr. and Mrs. James McKenzie of Cullman. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Quattlebaum of Birmingham spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Abercrombie. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Green, and Little Miss Ann McKoy, of Cullman, visited Mrs. L. E. Price Sunday afternoon. The Rev. and Mrs. B. B. Walker, and Mrs. B. D. McKenzie, attended the quarterly meeting of the West Side Association W. M. U. at the 7th street Baptist Church in Cullman, Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. William Weber, and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Boling, and family, of Birmingham, were weekend guests of Mrs. Weber's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Seibert. Joe McAnnally, was ill at his home last week. Mrs. M. M. Brown, spent this week in Gardendale with her son, Mr. and Mrs. U. V. Brown. Mrs. Ben Adams, was ill at Cullman hospital last week. Mrs. L. E. Bartley, with Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Fannin, spent Wednesday in Birmingham.
