We are so sorry that Mrs. Elbert Ponder, suffered third degree burns Friday of the face and neck and arm from steam escaping from her pressure cooker. She is rapidly improving at this writing, and is still planning to accompany Mr. Ponder to New York on a business trip Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Hershall Thompson, spent the weekend in Atlanta. Mrs. R. B. Dodson, has returned from Cincinnati. She was accompanied home by Mrs. Bill Grimm, and sons, Teddy and Steve. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tiffin, spent Wednesday in Birmingham. Mrs. Voight Culpepper, has as her houseguest this week, Mrs. W. D. Stanley, from Bogalusa, La. Mrs. Leon Jones, who has been visiting the M. L. Robertsons, returned to her home in Dadeville Saturday. Mrs. Lily Fuller, was brought home from Jefferson Hospital in Birmingham last Wednesday, and is now convalescing at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. L. Burke on 4th Avenue East. The Pulpit Committee of the First Baptist Church returned Monday from Norfolk, Va. Those making the four day trip were Owen Williams, Chairman, Hugh Brindley, Walter Taylor, and Bernard Jetton. Besides visiting a minister there, they visited the Norfolk, Va., First Baptist Church of Cullman on January 15. Alex Millar, has been ill with flu this week, but is now improved. Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Johnson, (Amelia Hartung) and sons, Stanley and Wiley, spent the holiday with the Ernie Blands. Mr. Johnson, was formerly the Cullman County Demonstration agent. Mr. and Mrs. Roland Campbell, returned to Sullivan, Ind., on Wednesday, after a two weeks visit with the George Stiefelmeyer, Jrs. Down in Miami for a holiday of several weeks are Mr. Fred Garret, Mrs. D. Thompson, and Mr. Carl Thompson. They drove down Christmas, day. Ran into Mrs. George Stiefelmeyer, Jr., and Linda, Mrs. Jimmy Chambliss, and Mrs. E. G. Plunkett, at the same time in Birmingham, on Tuesday, none of whom were together at that particular time. By the way, Mrs. Plunkett's father, Mr. Fred Sellers, is improving nicely at Jefferson Hospital after an eye operation last Friday. Dr. and Mrs. Leroy Bledsoe, had as their guests at their Guntersville home last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Key, of Newman, Ga. Miss Mary Jo Kramer, and Jay Aldredge, were among those from Cullman who went to Gadsden last weekend for a reunion of former students of St. Bernard College. Dr. and Mrs. R. Williams, and Janet and Kathy have returned from a short visit to Dr. Williams home, Kinston, Ala. Mrs. N. S. Smith, has been ill at her home for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Harlon Duard Smith, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Nellie Jo, to Paul David Bennett, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Bennett. The wedding ceremony will be on January 14 at 6:00 p.m., at the Cullman Church of Christ. Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Elmore, and family of Moulton spent this weekend with Mrs. Elmore's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Edmondson. Carol and Ann Erwin, of Tarrant visited their cousin, Sylvia Ashwander, over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Chandler, and son, Edward Earl, Jr., and Mrs. Dennis Chandler, and daughter, Reatha, visited Mrs. A. H. Webb, in Bessemer Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. John Grantham, and Misses Flossie and Doris Jean Grantham, visited Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brower, and Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Brewer, in Gadsden Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Goren, of Decatur and Mrs. Martha Childers, and W. C. Martin, of Eva, were the Friday guests of Mrs. M. M. Aldridge, and Mrs. Emmie Smith. Mrs. C. F. Millican, of Bessemer was the Thursday and Friday guest of Mrs. D. H. Sims. Mr. and Mrs. James Johnston, Jr., and son, Freddie, of Grove Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Ray Johnston, and daughter, Linda, of Birmingham visited relatives over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Edmondson, were guests last week of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Edmondson, in Haleyville. James B. Kelly, returned Saturday after spending several days in Nashville. Mr. and Mrs. Forney Rascoe, of Cullman spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moore. Mr. John Ashwander, is the guest for a few weeks of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Culwell, in Fort Meyers, Fla. Mrs. M. M. Aldridge, and Mrs. Ernie Smith, spent Sunday afternoon with friends in Blountsville. Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Mooris, and children of Birmingham and A. A. Doolittle, of Releigh, N. C., visited Mrs. D. H. Sims, Thursday. Mrs. Della Weeks, of Birmingham, Mrs. Fred Keller, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Sloan, and children of Gardendale and Rev. and Mrs. J. O. Ellisor, Jr., of Marion Junction were the guests of Mrs. Dennis Chandler, and Miss Reatha Chandler, during the Christmas Holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Howle, of Cullman, and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Caudell, spent Monday in Jasper, where they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. John Romine. Mr. and Mrs. Woodie Jackson, of Augusta, Ark., visited Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt Jackson, and other relatives last week. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Edmondson, visited Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Bailey, in Holly Pond Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Dean, and Ann, of Decatur, spent the weekend with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Brown, and family spent Saturday night with Walter relatives. Mr. and Mrs. James Kelly, had as the Christmas Dinner guests, Frederick Kelly, of Jasper, Tenn., and Rev. Glen Hembree, of Oneonta. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Lamont, have returned after visiting relatives in Montgomery last week. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Curl, and daughter, Carolyn, of Birmingham spent Sunday night with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Butler. Margaret Ann and Kathryn Farmer, visited relatives in Birmingham last week. Mrs. J. B. Lewis, is spending this week in Decatur, with Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Dean. Miss Melie Stokes, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Duncan, in Birmingham, last week. Mr. and Mrs. James Kelly, and son James, and Frederick Kelly, of Jasper, Tenn., were the dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. O. K. Moore, in Oneonta Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Percy South, of Montgomery spent last week visiting relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Oden, of Jacksonville, Fla., were the guest last week of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Quick. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Johnston, of Horton, visited relatives here last week. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Meadows, were called to Hollinwood, Tenn., last week to attend the funeral of the infant son of Rev. and Mrs. Wayne King, former pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church. Margaret Ann Culwell, of Birmingham is the guest of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Duke. Mr. and Mrs. F. F. Helms, of Birmingham spent a few days last week with relatives.
