Miss Marie Hess of Portland, Oregon, who is being married today to T/Sgt. William Weaver of Ladd AFB, was given a shower recently by Mrs. William Wilson and Mrs. Adrian Sauerhage. Those present were Mrs. Murial Mann, who will be the bride's matron of honor, and Mesdames John Sackett, Lewis Hartman, Prentice Ryan, Ernest Ellis, John Holiey, Wesley Smith, Jack Stewart and John Malloy. The wedding will take place in the base chapel with Chaplain Martin Shaner officiating.

The Rev. and Mrs. Bob Johnson, directors of the Marantha Children's home on Steel Creek road have friends from Lewiston, Maine visiting them. Mr. and Mrs. Merwin D. Hodgkin and their two sons, ages 12 and 15, are on a three-months tour, which includes many parts of Canada, the States and Mexico. Hodgkin, who works for the Boston and Maine railroad was once Rev. Johnson's scoutmaster, when both of them lived in Yonkers, N. Y. This weekend the travelers are going on to Palmer. By the time they get back to Maine, they estimate they will have traveled 25,000 miles.

Other guests at Marantha are Mr. and Mrs. Ira Lewis of Portland, Oregon, who are leaving Monday after a three-weeks visit with their daughter, Mrs. Leon Van Sickle. Mr. and Mrs. Van Sickle, workers at the home, took her folks to Circle and other points of interest. This is their first visit to Alaska.

Miss Mary Robinson, extension service home furnishing specialist and Mrs. Ethel Holbird left yesterday for Anchorage and Homer. Mrs. Holbird will work with Kenai 4-H clubs getting ready for the fair in August. Miss Robinson, who has just completed an upholstery workshop in Fairbanks, will be a counsellor at the 4-H camp at King's lake.

Miss Joan Sosso arrived via Alaska Airlines Tuesday afternoon to spend the summer with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sosso, who live in the Selid apartments. Miss Sosso is a student at Fresno State college, Fresno, California. John Stone, local radio and TV announcer, is her brother.
