Mrs. H. J. Wempe, and child came
in from Cleary last evening on the
train.
Mr.and Mrs. Oscar Reynolds, came in last evening from lower Vault creek to spend a few days in the city visiting with friends. Mr. Reynolds is engaged in mining on the Homestake and Alabama association claims at the mouth of Vault creek. A number of the friends of three year- old William Frank Whitely, Jr., gathered at the Whitely residence on Eighth near Cushnran yesterday afternoon and helped the little one celebrate his birthday anniversary. The afternoon was pleasantly spent at games. Mrs. Andrew Halset, entertained a number of little folks Tuesday afternoon in honor of Bertram Moody's sixth birthday anniversary. The young ones who participated in the event were kept in a state of delight from 3 until 5, at which time each of the young Beau Brummels selected a partner and marched into the front room of the residence. The road had been darkened beforehand and the ceremony of lighting the half dozen candles on the birthday cake was therefore quite impressive. The luncheon was an appetizing one and was hugely appreciated by the little guests. The following were present, Dorothy Smith, Dorice Smith, Gladys Carey, Kathrine Friss, Virginia Litsey, Muriel Heiling, Violet Dundon, Charlotte Theis, Dorothy Matthews, Gordon McXeer, Charles Geis, Jim Lavery, Hugh Smith, Arthur Hering, Arthur Brite, Carl Landgrafe, Louis Irune, Willaird Renshaw, Phillip Renshaw, Norman Burglin, Edson Moody and Bertram Moody. The annual May day ball of the Catholic church was given Wednesday evening at the Auditorium. A big crowd attended, and the affair was considered a marked success. The feature of the evening's entertainment was the Maypole dance, which was specially staged by children who had been trained for the event. Those who took part in it were Hildegarde Ashwander, Valeria Ouellette, Bernadette Stroup, Anna Russell, Queenie Russell, Constance Peterson, Oneita Harris, Marguerite O'Connor, Eulalia Greerty, Joanna filler, Agnes Kelly, Ruth Carey, Elizabeth Foster, Hilma Girouard, Ruth Wooldridge, Gomie Keeler, Helen Young, Helen McCann, Vera Russell, Norman Russell, Elizabeth Mathews, May Queen. A meeting of the Presbyterian Young People's society was held Tuesday evening at the Coombs residence on Third and Hall. The younger folk were the guests of Miss Hazel Coombs, the nature of the affair being in celebration of May clay Games appropriate to the occasion were played, and later a most delightful luncheon was served by Miss Coombs. Those present were Misses Jean Sutherland, Mayme Harris, Laura Lewis, Ruth Condit, Grace Rolston, Hazel Coombs, Elsie Sutherland, Messrs. Harry Christoffers, Robert Sheldon, Rudolph Thies, William Nordale, Carl Fleishman, Edgar Woolridge, Ednair Tonseth, Arnold Nordale, Howard Rolston, Jack Taylor and Herman Taylor. On Tuesday evening, Franklin Parsons, of Oines celebrated his fifth birthday at the home of his parents in the creek town. Games kept the little ones busy until a delightful luncheon, prepared by Mrs. Parsons, was ready for serving. Those present to help the young Dome creek man to commemorate his birthday were Myrtle Fisher, Walter Fisher, Helen Durant, Pearl Woods, Dorrence Woods, Harry Porter, Margaret Porter, Hilda Bloom, Florence Sandstrom, Ruth Sandstrom, Ethel Parsons, Lawrence Parsons and Earling Parsons. Thirteen suffragettes, some married and others still single, plan to leave this morning for Tester City on a picnic party. The crowd will be taken out in a big wagon, driven by a man, martyr that he is. The party will stop for lunch a mile before reaching Ester and plan to get back in town about 3:30 o'clock this evening. Those who will go are Mesdames Gordon, Barthel, Whitely, Parkin, Merritt, Lovejoy, Wood, Cathcart, Hurley, Hoyt and Misses Barthel, Hyde and Moulton. Chairles Samson of the fire department was host Thursday evening at a spread given in the firemens quarters of the city hall. Those present included the following J. K. Buckley, James Thornton, L. Thimme, H. C. Jackson, R. D. Morgan, Dr. Whitney, Fred Pauli, Wm. Grundy, Al Pauli, Arthur Ritchie, Adolph Olson, Martin Nash, Fred Douse, Lisle Laumeister, V. D. TUckert and Charles Samson The members of the newly organized Golden Heart riding club were entertained Wednesday at luncheon by Mrs. Paul Rickert at the Rickert residence. Those present were Mrs. Al. Johnson, Mrs.Jack Curry, Mrs. P. Rickert, Mrs. Authur Williams, Mrs Calderhead, Mrs. Golden, Mrs. Hinekley, Mrs. Fred Martin, Misses Grosse, Graves and Hagerly. The ladies of the Methodist Ladies Aid society held a meeting Wednesday afternoon at the church parlors. A most pleasant sewing session was had, after which a light luncheon was served. The next meeting will take place in two weeks and will be held in the same place.
